- "That's right, folks! I'll do it again, and AGAIN! I will make X AND Zero MINE! Now, come and get me! Give me a good fight, like you always do!"
- —Sigma
Sigma is the final boss of Mega Man X7. Having returned under the alias "The Professor" (センセイ Sensei), he manipulates Red Alert to harness DNA data of both X and Zero using Axl's Copy Chip. After Red's defeat, X, Zero and Axl discover Sigma, who claims he will return again and again.
Strategy[]
First form[]
After the rematches with the eight members of Red Alert, the Maverick Hunters find Sigma. He wields a double-barrel rifle that can be split in two to enable rapid fire, as well as a large laser cannon. This form is weak to Wind Cutter/Souenbu, which knocks him onto his back and forces him to teleport.
This form of Sigma can be handled efficiently by crouching behind one of the blocks on the floor while shooting him; X's Charge Shot is especially effective for its solid-permeating properties. When Sigma fires his laser cannon, the player only has to crouch to avoid it.
Bound Shot (バウンドショット)[1][2] | |
---|---|
Sigma fires three ricocheting bullets from his rifle at different angles. He often performs this attack multiple times in a row. | |
Damage: 8 (Normal), 16 (Hard) | |
Double Shot (ダブルショット)[1][2] | |
Sigma teleports into the background, splits his rifle in two, and shoots a barrage at the player before returning to the foreground. | |
Damage: 8 (Normal), 16 (Hard) | |
Cannon Laser (キャノンレーザー)[1][2] | |
Sigma teleports to one side of the arena and holsters his rifle to summon a giant laser cannon. Sigma may crouch when using this attack, which can hit the player if they are crouching. | |
Damage: 16 (Normal), 32 (Hard) | |
Guard (ガード)[1][2] | |
Sigma defends himself with his rifle. He does this if the player is shooting too many weak shots at him at once. | |
Damage: 0 |
Second form[]
After being defeated, Sigma enters his gigantic final form in a dark void surrounded by rubble platforms. He keeps his distance from the player, attacking with projectiles and occasional dash punches. After losing half his health, his helmet is destroyed to reveal his face. He is weak to Splash Laser, Explosion and Gaea Shield with X and Axl, and to Hadangeki, Suiretsusen and Gokumonken with Zero.
As X has good range, he can strike with a charged Splash Laser. Axl can deal serious damage with shots from his G-Launcher. Zero can use his Gokumonken stance to reflect Sigma's green shots back at him, and the Hadangeki to attack him when he comes close.
Dash Punch (ダッシシュバンチ)[3] Giga Fist[4][5] | |
---|---|
Sigma teleports far away, then closes in with a fast dash punch. | |
Damage: 16 | |
Green Projectile (绿弾)[3] Spark Seek[4][5] | |
Sigma launches green spheres off-screen, which descend upon the player. They linger on the floor before exploding after a while. Zero can reflect them with Gokumonken to damage Sigma. | |
Damage: 6 | |
Red Projectile (赤弾)[3] Flame Blast[4][5] | |
Sigma teleports close and spits red spheres at the player, which explode when they hit the floor. They can be destroyed by the player's attacks. | |
Damage: 12 | |
Laser (レーザー)[3] Laser Bolt[4][5] | |
Sigma emits a giant laser from his belt, which he sweeps back and forth. | |
Damage: 16 | |
Rotational Attack (回転攻擊)[3] Tornado Fire[4][5] | |
Sigma teleports far away and spins, releasing explosive projectiles that swing around to hit the player horizontally. | |
Damage: 12 |
