Skeleton Joe (スケルトン・ジョー Sukeruton Jō) is a Sniper Joe variation from the Mega Man series in the form of a skeleton that attacks by throwing bone-shaped objects. They were created by Dr. Wily during his fourth attempt at world domination using Dr. Cossack as a proxy.[Citation needed]

Appearances[]

Skeleton Joes appear in Skull Man's stage and the first stage of Dr. Cossack's Citadel in Mega Man 4. They attack by throwing bones in a fixed arc. When hit, a Skeleton Joe will only dismantle and will reassemble itself in a short time. Mega Man can only destroy them with a Charge Shot from the Mega Buster or Pharaoh Shot, or by using the Flash Stopper to avoid them from dismantling. Dive Missiles will not home in on Skeleton Joes, and Rain Flush cannot even dismantle them.

In Mega Man III, Skeleton Joes appear in Skull Man's stage and in the Wily Station. They act like their previous appearance, but they can adjust the arc of the bones thrown by them, having three different arcs.

Mega Man Megamix[]

Skeleton Joe was developed as an experiment in creating a robot mainly composed of basic "bits." Since the skeleton form requires very few parts, Skeleton Joe turned out to be a great design for mass production, despite being a prototype model. The knowledge and skill that Dr. Wily gained by creating Skeleton Joe was directly carried over into his research when developing Stone Man.

A few Skeleton Joes appeared working for Skull Man, assisting him to attack Dr. Cossack's home and later reporting to him that Drill Man and Dust Man were defeated, and Pharaoh Man would not last long.

Mega Man #0[]

Skeleton Joes appear in Mega Man #0, where they are sent by Skull Man to attack Mega Man.

Other appearances[]

Skeleton Joes had short appearances as Skull Man's minions in the manga Rockman 4 and Rockman World 3.
