Harpuia's Sonic Boom

Harpuia's Super Sonic Boom
This article is about the technique. For the comic book series, see Sonic Boom (Archie Comics). |
Sonic Boom (ソニックブーム Sonikku Būmu) is an attack from the Mega Man franchise, a crescent-shaped shockwave that is released forward after a rapid blade swing, cutting targets on its path.
Mega Man Zero series[]
Sonic Boom is one of Sage Harpuia's attacks. In Mega Man Zero 2, Harpuia's EX Skill is a large sonic boom named Super Sonic Boom.
Sonic Boom also appeared as one of Harpuia's Active Skills in Mega Man X DiVE.
Mega Man Battle Network series[]
Battle Chips[]

MegaMan releasing a Sonic Boom
Sonic Boom is an attack with a wide range that can be used with a command from the Battle Chip Variable Sword or when the Battle Chip Anti Sword is triggered, the latter releasing three Sonic Booms.
In Mega Man Battle Network 3, Variable Sword can release a version named Element Sonic (エレメントソニック also called Elemental Sonic[1]) that releases four Sonic Booms, each with an element. The first wave is red and is of the Fire element, followed by a blue Aqua wave, a yellow Elec wave, and finishing with a green Wood wave.
By using commands, the Mega Chips Neo Variable and Z Saber can release a Super Sonic (スーパーソニック), a Sonic Boom that can pass through enemies and obstacles, hitting everything on its path.
Sonic Boom appeared as a Mega Chip in Rockman.EXE Phantom of Network. When used, it releases a Sonic Boom forward that causes 140 damage.
ProtoMan.EXE[]

ProtoMan releasing a Sonic Boom
Sonic Boom is a sword type move used by ProtoMan in Mega Man Battle Network 2 and 3.
Sonic Boom also appeared as one of ProtoMan's Active Skills in Mega Man X DiVE, with ProtoMan releasing a shock wave with a sword slash. The skill can be improved by equipping one of three Skill Cards that become available by increasing ProtoMan.EXE's rank:
- Penetration enhancement - The attack can penetrate one extra target, the damage after penetration becomes 25% and the range of the attack is increased by 15%.
- Power Increase - Increases damage rate 5%.
- Spreading Edge - Unleash 3 Sonic Booms instead of 1.
Serenade.EXE[]
Sonic Boom is one of Serenade's attacks. If Serenade is attacked while able to move, Serenade counters by reflecting the attack back, turning it into a small Sonic Boom.
Others[]

Guile using Sonic Boom in Worlds Unite
In Mega Man ZX Advent, Aeolus (with Model H) releases a sonic boom in the end of his Triple Slash attack in the battle against him in the Floating Ruins.[2]
The Street Fighter character Guile has a move named Sonic Boom, which he used against Double in Worlds Unite.
While not named Sonic Boom, many characters have similar wave attacks, such as some of Zero's moves (Hadangeki, Kougenjin, Genmu Zero, ...), Model ZX's Rising Fang, SwordMan.EXE's Great Sword, and Wolf Woods's Wide Claw.
In the MegaMan NT Warrior manga, Proto Soul uses a similar shock wave against Bass.
