- "Then the least I can do is fight with all my strength. Let's go, Maverick Hunter X!"
- ―Storm Eagle, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Storm Eagle, known as Storm Eagleed (ストーム・イーグリード Sutōmu Īgurīdo) in Japan, is one of the eight Mavericks from Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Originally a Maverick Hunter and leader of the 7th Airborne Unit, Storm Eagle fought Sigma to stop his rebellion but was defeated and forced to join in his campaign against mankind.
Overview[]
PRINCE OF THE SKIES
Leader of the 7th Air Squadron, his forte is lightning-quick dog fights and air battles. Always calm, cool and collected, he doesn't talk much and can be difficult to approach, though he is very popular with his men. When the rebellion broke out, he tried his best to stop Sigma, but was forced to bow to Sigma's immense power and now works for him. When Storm Eagle is controlling the skies with a new air destroyer, no one gets past him, through the air at least.
Storm Tornado
A buster turned into a high-power fan that blasts opponents with hard-hitting wind, capable of destroying enemies that stand in its path.
History[]
The Day of Σ[]
Storm Eagle was originally stationed at the missile base outside Abel City with his 7th Airborne Unit. Shortly before Sigma's rebellion, he was moved into Abel City while the missile base allegedly underwent renovations for auto-defense systems (in reality this was a ploy to get Storm Eagle away so that Sigma could plan his missile strike). He visited Zero after the latter finished virtual reality training to call him to a briefing about the Maverick Mechaniloid incidents.
After the briefing, Storm Eagle and Chill Penguin's companies were deployed to search for the hackers. Once X and Zero discovered the deceased perpetrators, Storm Eagle's unit arrived to secure the area. Sigma ordered the Storm Eagle Company to hunt down the remaining fugitives. It is implied that he was completely unaware of Sigma's involvement at this point.
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X[]
Once Sigma announced his rebellion and bombed Abel City, Storm Eagle attempted to arrest him but was defeated. Sigma then forced Storm Eagle to work in his army by stealing the Maverick Hunter's latest battleship the Death Rogumer. He reluctantly complied and maintained control of the New-type Airport, where he was confronted by X aboard the Death Rogumer. He seemed very regretful of his actions, but felt he had no other choice but to face X in combat. He was destroyed in a warrior's noble death.
In Vile Mode, Storm Eagle was puzzled by Vile's rampage (despite neither of them willing to fight each other initially) and asked him to stand down. However, His remarks came off as condescending, infuriating Vile even further, and the two fought to the death.
Strategy[]
Storm Eagle's attack pattern is slightly different from his original appearance in Mega Man X. His Storm Tornado is much longer, being a sustained beam rather than a single shot. His dive does not travel past the Death Rogumer, instead stopping at the aircraft and back up or flying straight across it horizontally. He also has a new attack, frequently used in Hard Mode, where he shoots feathers during his Gust attack. Although his weakness is still Chameleon Sting, he now flinches when it hits him except while diving.[1]
- Storm Tornado - Storm Eagle shoots a horizontal tornado of air from his buster. Although it deals no damage, this attack attempts to push the player off the Death Rogumer. X can dash under the attack if he has the Foot Parts, but as Vile cannot dash, he must purely rely on air stalling with shoulder or leg weapons prior to defeating Storm Eagle. Having Speed Devil will decrease Storm Tornado's effectiveness though it is not enough by itself to reach Storm Eagle nor avoid being pushed off.
- Diving - Storm Eagle flies off-screen, then dive-bombs the player before retreating off-screen again. He can either come down diagonally before rushing back upwards, or come in horizontally across the surface of the Death Rogumer.
- Gust - Storm Eagle flaps his wings, causing a rush of air to push the player back in an attempt to push them off the Death Rogumer (although it deals no damage), similar to Storm Tornado. Storm Eagle will also shoot feather projectiles to barb the floor as he flaps, adding further challenge to staying in place. This does not occur in Normal while having more than half-health. He will gradually fire more waves of feather projectiles as his health decreases, being able to fire up to two or three in Normal or Hard Mode respectively.
- Bird Summon - While Storm Eagle hovers midair, he produces an egg out of his beak and spits it on the ground, cracking it. From the egg come four small bird robots that fly towards the player.
Quotes[]
Dialogues[]
X: Storm Eagle! Don't tell me that even you've gone Maverick!
Storm Eagle: ...
X: Answer me, Storm Eagle! You're not the type of Reploid to do something like this!
X: Storm Eagle!? Have you gone Maverick, too?
Storm Eagle: I won't deny that.
X: If that's the case, I have no choice but to destroy you... It's my duty as a Maverick Hunter!
Storm Eagle: Vile....I have no reason to fight you.
Vile: We're in agreement there. I have no reason to fight you either.
Storm Eagle: In that case, stand down! You're just confused, Vile. That's all.
