For the Mega Man X DiVE weapon, see Storm Tornado (Mega Man X DiVE).

Storm Tornado (ストームトルネード Sutōmu Torunēdo) is the Special Weapon that X obtains from defeating Storm Eagle in Mega Man X and Mega Man Xtreme. In its uncharged form, X fires a long, horizontal tornado that remains on the screen for several moments before heading in the direction X is facing. The tornado is very effective against larger enemies, as it can hit multiple times with one shot. When fully charged, X is surrounded by a screen-high vertical whirlwind that can hit enemies from above and below before leaving the screen. Unlike most boss weapons, the Storm Tornado used by Storm Eagle deals no damage to X; it merely pushes him toward a bottomless pit in a similar fashion to Anglerge's vacuum attack.

In the remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, the horizontal length of this weapon is only half that of the original, allowing X to fire multiple times at a faster rate since only one tornado can be on the screen at once. The charged version of Storm Tornado functions slightly differently from Mega Man X and Mega Man Xtreme. Instead of a large tornado surrounding X upon releasing the FIRE button, he will instead fire a projectile for a short distance that forms a large tornado when it lands on solid ground, allowing a longer-range attack.

In Mega Man X, this weapon is Flame Mammoth's weakness - despite Mammoth not flinching in the slightest bit from it. In Mega Man Xtreme, it is the weakness for Flame Stag.

  • For Vile, in order to inflict damage on him with Storm Tornado, the player must have saved their game after completing such mode and then starting Hard Mode from that save file -- Storm Tornado will otherwise be unavailable for the player if they begin Hard Mode from the title screen.
