Created by Gate?[]

Most sites say he wasn't created by Gate, but in the X6 cutscene when the player gets 3000 Nightmare Souls, Alia says:

"To create such an advanced virus... He is the only one... The one... who was my colleague... Gate... The investigators... Some look different, but those eight Reploids were created by Gate. They should have been in use somewhere else since they are very able Reploids... Thinking of the Nightmare program, he is the only one capable of this."

Rough translation from Japanese version: "Who could create such a thing... He is the only one... He used to be my colleague... Gate... Those investigators... Some of the 8 Repliroids have a completely different shape... In the past he created... I thought they were being used by someone else because they were very powerful Repliroids... But considering the Nightmare's program, that can't be the case."

The problem with that line is that it could also refer to their current bodies (some look different) instead of the original ones, similar to the Wily Numbers, with Wily remodeling several robots and making them his own. Alternatively, Alia could simply be generalizing as most of them were made by Gate.

Besides that line, none of the sources I checked (which aren't many for X6) indicate that he was created Gate, but I haven't seen anything indicating that he wasn't either. Maybe one of the Japanese X6 guidebooks have details about it? In doubt, it is better to leave it ambiguous and not mention it, unless a reference proving that he was (or not) created by Gate is included. --Quick (ut) 15:33, July 13, 2020 (UTC)

You know what? I actually agree with you, thinking over it again, that Scaravich was not created by Gate. This game is known for some questionable and somewhat incorrect translations, such as the "I hid myself while I tried to repair myself" line from Zero, and each of the Nightmare Investigators working for Gate had a legitimate purpose in their previous lives prior to their resurrections.
Commander Yammark was created by Gate to support forest preservation projects, becoming the leader of an ecological observation team. Wolfang was created by Gate to serve in Arctic areas as the leader of an investigation team stationed at the North Pole Area. Turtloid was created by Gate to serve as a member of a water purification team, with his shielded shell allowing him to explore highly polluted areas without ill effects to himself. Mijinion was created by Gate to test large-manned weaponry, Player was created by him to study and analyze DNA at a facility in a research recycling team, and Heatnix was created by Gate to help explore dangerous high-temperature areas in subterranean hotspots thanks to his design.
The common denominator between the 7 other Reploids is that they were created by Gate to serve legitimate investigative purposes with their exquisite abilities, to aid Reploid researchers. Although some (Heatnix, Mijinion, and Player) did flout these rules and even break the law, leading to the researchers to have them disposed of.
As for Ground Scaravich? He did not do any legitimate work prior to his resurrection. He was a greedy criminal who burglarized ancient ruins and abandoned areas in hope of finding valuable data, an illegal treasure hunter. Indeed, it was his criminal activity that put him on the wanted list of the Maverick Hunters in the first place, with Alia finally killing him when she witnessed him enter a forbidden area. Although Gate took shortcuts and was reckless prior to Maverick, he never created Reploids for any illegal behavior.

Scaravich was instead a criminal treasure hunter who kept data for himself, only giving some of it to Gate in exchange for safety. Gate only recruited him, he did not create him. It should stay off. I'm convinced. Calli11298 (talk) 16:50, July 13, 2020 (UTC)
Might as well ask this since we're on the topic of mistranslations: What WAS Zero's Japanese line regarding the explanation of his survival, and what was the correct translation? Weedle McHairybug (talk) 11:52, July 14, 2020 (UTC)
In the original Japanese version of X6, Zero merely says that he hid himself while he healed (しんぱいかけたようだな ダメージが 完全にかいふくするまで 身をかくしていたんだ その間に この「オモチャ」が 世間を さわがせて しまったようだがな). While in the English dub, he goes further and says not only did he hide himself, but he tried to repair himself at the same time while hiding. Calli11298 (talk) 15:57, July 14, 2020 (UTC)
