This page is about the Mega Man X5 weapon. For the Mega Man Xtreme 2 weapon, see Tri-Thunder (Mega Man Xtreme 2).

Tri-Thunder (トライサンダー Torai Sandā) is the Special Weapon that Mega Man X obtains from Volt Kraken in Mega Man X5. When equipped with this weapon, X shoots three electric arcs - up, forward, and down - and when they touch the wall, they crawl along it as ball lightning. When charged, X generates a storm of six random lightning bolts across the screen, the first bolt always generated where X is.

This weapon is the primary weakness for Shining Firefly, Shadow Devil, Rangda Bangda W's red eye, and Sigma's first form.

Trivia[]

  • Tri-Thunder is most likely an homage to the Thunder Beam from the first Mega Man game. The weapon shoots electricity in three directions the same way as the Thunder Beam, and X's color scheme matches that of Mega Man's. The Shadow Devil is also weak to Tri-Thunder, much like how the Yellow Devil in the first game was weak to Thunder Beam.
  • Its name is very similar to the Triad Thunder from Mega Man X3, and both weapons fire three blue lightning bolts. The only difference is the former's bolts go up, forward and down as opposed to the latter's up and diagonally down bolts.
