A vending machine is an automated machine that provides items such as snacks and beverages to the consumer in exchange of cash. Several vending machines appeared in the Mega Man games.
Appearances[]
Mega Man Legends[]
Kattelox Island has two drink vending machines installed in Downtown, three in Uptown (one being inside the hospital), and one in Yass Plains. They all have a trash box on their side for empty drinks. MegaMan Volnutt can use 100 Zenny to buy a drink and fully recover his health. The same drink is also available for free in the Flutter's fridge.
Alternatively, Mega Man can kick the machine, which may either give him a free drink or break it. Doing this reduces the ethics value. Kicking a broken machine will cause it to explode.
The appearance of the machine and its content varies between different versions of the game. In the original Japanese PlayStation version, it contains Oronamin C (オロナミンC), which was included in the game as a tie-in. The English version contains a soft drink. The PlayStation Portable version contains juice (ジュース).
While not available to the player, the vending machines appear to also have Java tea and Pocari.[1]
Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force series[]
Vending machines are recurring objects in the two series. Except for Mega Man Star Force 2, they appear in all of the main games, and in most of them the player is able to enter in at least one machine.
- There are three soda machines inside the Government Complex in Mega Man Battle Network. Lan Hikari can jack in MegaMan.EXE in the broken machine.
- The soda-pop vending machine from Kotobuki in Mega Man Battle Network 2 has a jack in port.
- Mega Man Battle Network 3 has one vending machine with a port inside SciLab and Seaside Hospital. There are also machines inside the Yoka zoo and the TV station, but those do not have a jack in port.
- In Mega Man Battle Network 4, DenDome has a vending machine inside with a plug in port. Lan meets Shuko Kido in front of the machine in her scenario from the Blue Moon version. There are also vending machines outside DenDome and in Elec Town, but those lack a jack in port.
- SciLab has vending machines without ports in Mega Man Battle Network 5. They only sell energy drinks.
- In Mega Man Battle Network 6, Seaside Town has various vending machines containing water. Two of them have a jack in port, with one being used to control ChargeMan (Cybeast Gregar version) or DustMan (Cybeast Falzar).
- There are vending machines outside BIG WAVE in Mega Man Star Force that Mega Man can pulse in. AMAKEN has vending machines containing "BigBang Coffee", "BlackHole Cola" and "ZeroG Punch".
- The National WAZA HQ from Mega Man Star Force 3 has a drinking machine. WBG Studios has a vending machine with Sonia Cards.
Mega Man X DiVE[]
Vending machines appeared in the event Maleficent Hero, where the Player must obtain as much Zenny as posssible, including by breaking vending machines.
The vending machine from Mega Man Legends appears in MegaMan Volnutt Alt.'s Active Skill Vending Machine Breaker, which has MegaMan kicking the vending machine in the enemy's direction to cause damage and drops a recovery item for him. Its chips are Mobility, Sedative and Stimulant.
Other appearances[]
- Mega Man X: Command Mission has three types of vending machines (one exclusive to the GameCube version) in Central Tower containing figures that can be seen in the Sub Screen and in the Sky Room.
- In Mega Man Zero 3, the mod card 28 will replace the computer in Ciel's room in the New Resistance Base by a vending machine.
Trivia[]
