Vile's Incident: Eden dome, its sin and rebirth (バイル事変－遥かなる理想郷、その罪と新生, Bairu Jihen - Haruka naru risōkyō, sono tsumi to shinsei, roughly "Vile Incident - Distant Utopia, its sin and rebirth") is a recap of the events of Mega Man Zero 3 and Mega Man Zero 4, which are collectively dubbed "Vile's Incident", and an epilogue set two years after the conclusion of the Mega Man Zero series, where both humans and Reploids (Repliroids) join together to start a new life in Area Zero after Dr. Weil (known as Dr. Vile in Japan, not to be confused with Vile) is defeated by Zero. It is included in one of the two booklets from Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero Physis.

序文	Preface
ネオ・アルカディア崩壊から、はや二年のときが流れた。	Two years have already passed since the collapse of Neo Arcadia.
12月16日。午後3時31分。衛星砲台ラグナロクから発射されたビームが、ネオ・アルカディア中心部を貫き、中枢エリアを破壊した。二千万人以上の犠牲者を出し、わずか数秒で首都機能は消失。そしてその日、ドクター・バイルというひとりの人間が君臨した、ネオ・アルカディア暗黒時代も終わりを告げたのだ。	December 16. 3:31 pm. The beam fired from the satellite cannon Ragnarok pierced the center of Neo Arcadia, destroying the central area. The city functions vanish in just a few seconds, with over twenty million victims. On that day, the dark age of Neo Arcadia, which a human named Doctor Vile had ruled, came to an end.
この未曾有の惨事は、先立つ政治的混乱と合わせて、今日では『バイル事変』と総称されている。 だが、直後のマスメディアの混乱などから、その全体像を把握する人間は意外にすくない。	This unprecedented disaster, along with the prior political turmoil, are nowadays collectively referred to as "Vile's Incident". However, given the mass media' confusion right after the incident, unexpectedly few humans had a grasp of the whole picture.
現在、我々はエネルギーや水道食料プラントをいまだ理想郷 ―― ネオアルカディア跡地に頼りつつも、人口の大多数はドーム都市から周辺へと居を移している。自然を回復しはじめたエリア・ゼロの大地にも、少ない人間たちが根を張ろうと試みつつある。	Currently, we still rely on the remains of utopia --- of Neo Arcadia for water, food plants and energy, the majority of the population has moved from the dome city to live in the surroundings. A few humans are attempting to root in the land of Area Zero, where nature has begun to recover.
英雄エックスに守られ快適と安全を享受していた我々は、自然の風を受け四季のめぐりを感じた厳しい生活で、多くのことを学んだ。人間にこの地上で生き抜く力があるなどと、かつてどれほどの者が考えただろう。	While we had enjoyed the comfort and safety protected by the hero X, I learned a lot of things by living a tough life, accepting the natural wind and the four seasons. That humans have the power to survive on the ground and, how many people would have thought that in the past.
ある日、ドーム都市崩壊以後に初めて本物の太陽を見たひとりの少女が、真っ黒に日焼けした肌を見せびらかしに、私の仕事場に入ってきた。そして、「どうしておとなはみんな、ドームを理想郷って呼ぶの？」と無邪気にたずねたのだ。	One day, a girl that saw the real sun for the first time after the collapse of the dome city, came into my workplace to show off her pitch-black tanned skin. Then, I was innocently asked "Why do all adults call the dome a "utopia"?".
大きすぎる喪失から目をそらしている我々が、今、できることは何なのだろうと、12月16日を生きたおとなとして胸が震えた。彼女たち、我々の子どもたちに真実を伝えなければならないと、言いしれぬ焦りにかられたのだ。	We that look away from the oversized loss, now, wonder what can be done, my heart trembling as an adult who survived December 16. I felt an urge of unspeakable impatience, that the truth must be transmitted to she and others, to our children.
それが、バイル事変の記録を出版するに至ったきっかけである。積み上げてきたすべてが奪われ、ゼロになった悪夢。だが、このできごとを語る際、我々は破滅の一日を恨むより、智慧の指で過去から大きく事態をとらえなければならない。	It is the trigger that led me to publish a record of Vile's Incident. Deprived of everything we have been building up, it became a nightmarish zero. But, when talking about this incident, instead of resentting the day of destruction, we must grasp the large circumstances from the past with the fingers of wisdom.
長くなってしまった序文を、貴重な資料の収集にご協力いただいた、ネージュ氏ほか多数の人々への謝辞をもって締めさせていただきたい。彼女らの尽力なしに本書が世に出ることはなかった。	The preface has become long, summing up I'd like to thank Ms. Neige, in addition to many other people who cooperated to gather valuable data. Without her and the others' efforts, this book would never come into the world.

バイル事変を語るにおいて、何をおいても外し得ないのは、ドクター・バイルとは何者だったのかという疑問である。	When talking about Vile's Incident, what must not be excluded is the question of who was Doctor Vile.
右ページに掲載した画像は、旧時代の図書館の遺跡から入手された、過去の大戦の記録である。無惨なものであったにちがいないその詳細については、今もって秘匿事項が多い。	The image published on the right page was obtained from the ruins of an ancient library, it is a record of a great war in the past. It certainly must have been something atrocious as until now many details on the matter are still confidential facts.
だが、公式発表ではっきりしていることだけでも、過去に学ぶには充分だ。ドクター・バイルは百年以上前の凄惨な戦争の立役者であり、それがゆえかつてのネオ・アルカディアから罪人として追放された。だが当時、人間のための国家だった理想郷は“人間であるバイル”の大罪を公表せず歴史の闇に葬り去ったのだ。そして長すぎる時間が、当のネオ・アルカディアにすら彼の危険性を忘れさせた。	However, even with just what was clearly presented officially, it is enough to learn from the past. Dr. Vile is a leading figure in the gruesome war from over a hundred years ago, thus the Neo Arcadia from the past banished him as a sinner. But back then, the utopian nation for humans buried the "human Vile" for his deadly sins without announcing so and buried him in the darkness of history. And after such a long time, even Neo Arcadia had forgotten about the danger he posed.
バイル事変に原因があるとすれば、まさしくその体面を重んじた欺瞞だったと言わざるを得ない。	If there is a cause of Vile's Incident, it must be said that it was indeed the deception concerned about appearances.
大戦末期に投入されたとおぼしき大型レプリロイド。 背後にはネオ・アルカディアの巨人型メカニロイドに酷似したシルエットが確認出来る。	It appears to be a large Repliroid that was introduced in the late stages of the great war. Silhouettes very similar to Neo Arcadia's giant type Mechaniroids can be confirmed in the background.

Pages 006-007: Alteration

ドクター・バイルは巧妙だった。	Doctor Vile was ingenious.
4月23日。レジスタンスによる英雄エックス暗殺が、バイルの口から公表される。彼はただちに条例8項の適用によってネオ・アルカディアの暫定的な指導者となり、テロリスト鎮圧の指揮を議会によって承認される。非常事態はすみやかに全ドーム都市に通達され、彼はまたたく間に実権を掌握した。	April 23. X, the hero was assassinated by the Resistance: it was announced from the mouth of Vile. He immediately became the provisional leader of Neo Arcadia by applying Ordinance #8 clause, approved by the parliament as orders to suppress terrorism. A state of emergency is promptly notified to the whole dome city, and in the twinkling of an eye he seized control of the real power.
かくして一夜にして、独裁的なバイル政権が樹立する。	And thus in one night, the dictatorial Vile administraiton was established.
それはレジスタンスと、あの伝説のレプリロイド、ゼロの名が、はじめてネオ・アルカディア市民に脅威として記憶されたときでもあった。	That was also the first time that the Resistance and the legendary Repliroid named Zero were remembered as a threat by the Neo Arcadia citizens.
そしてバイルによる暗黒時代がはじまる。もはやネオ・アルカディアは安楽なゆりかごではなく、貧苦と恐怖に震える牢獄だった。正義の方向性を狂わせるだけが目的のような執拗な見せしめと、レジスタンスへの憎悪をかりたてる宣伝により、住民たちの精神生活までが劣悪なものに塗り替えられていった。	And the dark age of Vile begins. Neo Arcadia was no longer a comfortable cradle, instead it was a prison trembling with fear and distress. Relentless demonstrations whose only purpose was to derail the direction of justice and the propaganda inciting hatred towards the Resistance even repainted the mental life of the population into something inferior.
ドクター・バイルに逆らう者は、人間であろうとイレギュラーの烙印を押されて処分される。皮肉にも独裁者が人間をしばった恐怖政治は、かつてネオ・アルカディアがレプリロイドたちをしばってきた対イレギュラー政策と、あまりに似ていた。	Those who oppose Doctor Vile, even humans, are branded as Irregulars and disposed of. Ironically, the reign of terror the dictator binded the humans to was very similar to the anti-Irregular policy Neo Arcadia bonded the Repliroids to in the past.
そして、変容した理想郷の暮らしに耐えかねて、ネージュ氏に率いられたキャラバンが人間の脱出を斡旋しはじめる。かつて巨大コロニー、ユーラシアが墜落した場所に回復した自然、エリア・ゼロへと。自由を求めたキャラバンの逃走もまた、かつてレプリロイドたちがシエル博士に助けられレジスタンスを組織していった様子と、あまりに似ていた。	Then, as the utopia was transforming into an unbearable life, a caravan led by Ms. Neige began to mediate the escape of humans. Escape to Area Zero, the location where, in the past, the giant colony, Eurasia had crashed at, and where nature had recovered. The caravan escape for freedom also resembled a lot the situation of how, in the past, Repliroids were helped by Dr. Ciel and organized the Resistance.
圧政の中で尊厳を奪われたとき、人間とレプリロイドがとった行動は同じだったのだ。	Deprived of dignity during the tyranny, the actions taken by humans and Repliroids were the same.

Pages 008-009: Malice

悪意	Malice
ラグナロク作戦 ―― 苦痛に満ちたドーム都市という殻に人間を永久に押しこむため、ネオ・アルカディア以外の生活可能圏を破壊せんとした悪魔の所行である。貴重な自然が危機にさらされる様子が逐一、ドーム内で報道されていたことは、あの時代を経験した我々の記憶に新しい。	Operation Ragnarok -- A devilish deed to permanently push humans into the "shell" of the dome city filled with suffering, by destroying all areas capable of sustaining life outside of Neo Arcadia. It had been reported within the dome, that valuable nature was minutely exposed to a situation of crisis,that's fresh in the memories of those who have experienced that era.
平和だった時期、我々人間の多くが、事実を伝えようとする報道に興味を持たなかったのは厳然たる事実だ。ネージュ氏がバイル政権という本物の危機に立ち向かおうとしたとき、カメラではなくキャラバンを選んだように、ネオ・アルカディアにおけるメディアは安楽を彩る甘いお菓子でしかなかった。	When there was peace, many of us humans, actually did not have an interest on the the press which was trying to tell the truth. When Ms. Neige tried to confront the real crisis called the Vile regime, she chooses a caravan instead of a camera, as the media in Neo Arcadia was nothing but sweet candy which decorated the comfort.
独裁政権は報道を、生き延びるための細い命綱として注視させ、同時に恐怖を住民にすりこんだ。住民は、巧妙な洗脳に翻弄され続けた。その代表が、指揮官クラフトが碧緑のマントをひるがえしラグナロク作戦の命令をくだす、アインヘルヤル八闘士による破壊ショウだ。理想郷の傭兵として古参だった彼がバイルの私兵の長として現れたとき、我々は戦慄した。ネージュ氏のインタビュー で、四天王のような管理者ではない、市井の親しみやすいレプリロイドとして彼は有名だったからだ。	Coverage on the dictatorship, was kept a watch as a thin lifeline to survive, and at the same time imprinted fear into the residents. The population continued to be toyed with by the subtle brainwashing. Their representative, commander Craft with an azure green mantle issued the orders of the Operation Ragnarok, the a destruction show by the Einherjar Eight Warriors. We have dread when that veteran mercenary of the utopia appeared as the head of Vile's private army. According to an interview with Ms. Neige, he was not an administrator like the Four Heavenly Kings, he was renowned because he was a friendly Repliroid in the town.
ドクター・バイルは、側近の八審官をはたらかせた政権樹立当初、意思決定を常に彼自身が行なった。それが本来の独裁者バイルのやりかたなのだ。なのに、彼はラグナロク作戦で、相当の自由度でクラフトに指揮をまかせた。それどころか八闘士には、バイル製でないレプリロイドも多く取りこまれている。	While Doctor Vile originally had his entourages, the Eight Gentle Judges, when the regime's establishment, he always made the decisions himself. That was originally the style of the dictator Vile. Nevertheless, during Operation Ragnarok, he allowed Craft to command with a reasonable degree of freedom. And, also,the Eight Warriors incorporated several Repliroids which weren't manufactured by Vile.
独裁者はレプリロイドたちに、もう一度、戦争をさせたかったのだ。勝者も敗者もない、荒涼とした死の大地を前にすべての者が絶望するような、正義も何もない戦争をさせたかったのだ。だから、人間の近くにいたクラフトが指揮官に抜擢された。	The dictator wanted Repliroids to be at war once again. He wanted a war without winners or losers, without justice or anything, to cause despair to all persons who'd have the desolated lands of death facing them. That's why, Craft was elected as commander, due to his close proximity to the humans.
ラグナロク作戦の記事を掲載するにあたって、私はネージュ氏に取材をするため、アポイントをとってトレーラーを訪れた。本書の趣旨を説明すると、事件を間近に見た彼女は、インタビューの申し出に穏やかに首を横に振った。そしてかわりに、汗じみで劣化したような一枚の写真を、私にくれたのだ。	Since I would be publishing articles of Operation Ragnarok, I made an appointment to interview Ms. Neige and thus I visited her trailer. I explained to her the purpose of this publication, she had viewed the incident close at hand, and gently shook her head when I offered to interview her. In exchange, she gave me a sweated and degraded photo.
それを眼にして、「本当にいいのですか」と聞かずにいられなかった。決定的な破滅の引き金を引いたあのレプリロイドを、我々が許すことは決してないにちがいない。だが元ジャーナリストである彼女は、事実を隠すことを望まなかった。	With my eyes on it, I could not help but ask "is it really OK?". The Repliroid that pulled the trigger of definitive destruction, which we will never be able to forgive. Yet she was originally a journalist, and didn't want to hide the facts.
キャラバン隊による脱出行はドクター・バイルからの危機に晒されていた。それを度々救ったのは、あのレジスタンス軍だったと伝えられている。ネージュ氏による撮影。	The escape course used by the caravan had been exposed to a crisis by Doctor Vile. It's told that the Resistance troops had frequently saved them. Photography by Ms. Neige.

悲運	Misfortune
この画像は、その昔、まだ多くのことがうまく行っていた時代のものだ。すこしづつ、我々人間が見て見ぬふりをしていた陰できしみはじめていた、心やさしき英雄エックスの理想郷が、まだ楽園だったころの記憶だ。	This picture, is from a period a long time ago in which many things were still going well. It is a memory of when it was still a paradise, the utopia of the kind-hearted hero X, which was beginning to creak gradually behind the scenes and we humans saw it but pretended we weren't seeing it.
ネージュ氏はジャーナリストとして、人々のために戦うレプリロイドの取材をしていた。遠征隊長であったクラフトと、彼女は相当期間、旅をともにしている。	As a journalist, Ms. Neige had been interviewing Repliroids who fought for humans. She had travelled together with Craft, the commander of an expedition, a considerable period of time.
私などにもちろん、人とレプリロイドの鮮烈な生を論評できる資格などありはしない。ただ、その後に起こった事実を思い返すことができるのみだ。	I, of course, have no qualifications to comment on the vivid life of humans and Repliroids. However, I can only look back to the facts that happened after that.
ジャーナリストであったネージュ氏は、バイル政権から脱出した人々を導くキャラバンを指揮する。そして市井の勇士として報道されたクラフトは、人間・バイルの命を受け、ラグナロク作戦の陣頭指揮をとる。	Ms. Neige, a journalist, led the caravan, guiding people who escaped from the Vile regime. And, reported as the city warrior Craft, he sprearheaded Operation Ragnarok as commanded by the human, Vile.
悲劇のもうひとりの主人公として、クラフトについて深く考えたとき、我々人間は苦さを禁じ得ない。それは彼が、ネオ・アルカディアにおけるレプリロイドのありようを象徴しているからだ。	As another lone hero with a tragic end, when I thought deeply about Craft, we human beings cannot forbid bitterness. That's because he was a symbol of the conditions of the Repliroids in Neo Arcadia.
英雄エックスの時代、理想郷は「人間を守る」という正義のもと統制されていた。そしてレプリロイドたちは、悩みながらも人間至上主義のもと、枠からはみ出した者をイレギュラーとして討伐していた。我々が彼らに、人間を盲目的にいただくことを強いてきたからだ。	In the era of the hero X, the utopia was regulated by the justice of "protecting humans". The Repliroids, while having their doubts, they suppressed those who protruded from the frame as Irregulars as part of the human supremacy. We forced them to blindly believe in humans.
守りたい大切なものがあっただろうクラフトも、人間・バイルに、悪だとしても従う道を選ぶ。	Craft also must've had something important which he wanted to protect, so he choose to submit to a human, to Vile, even if he was evil.
あの暗黒の数ヶ月、ネオ・アルカディアに居住していた我々は、それでも“人間”であるバイルに、ほとんどのレプリロイドたちが反逆しなかったことを知っている。	During some months of that darkness, we who had been living in Neo Arcadia, we knew that most Repliroids did not rebelled against Vile who despite his form, was still a "human".
ゼロ ―― あの強き魂を宿す伝説のレプリロイドと、彼の差は、そこだったのかもしれない。	That might've been the difference with Zero --- the legendary Repliroid, who harbored a strong soul, .
人間とレプリロイドがよい関係を築けていさえいれば、重い“枠”は打ち壊されただろうか。深い絶望がなければ“英雄”になったかもしれないクラフトによって、ネオ・アルカディアは百年の歴史に終止符を打たれることとなる。	If humans and Repliroids had built a good relationship, the heavy "frame" might've been broken. If he hadn't been deeply despaired Craft might have become a "hero", he's the one who put an end to Neo Arcadia's hundred years of history.

午後3時31分。軌道上の衛星砲台ラグナロク主砲が、ネオアルカディア中央部を貫き、中枢エリアを跡形もなく破壊した。これにより議会は消滅、独裁者バイルも行方不明となり、首都機能は完全に崩壊した。	3:31 PM. The main cannon of the orbital satellite cannon Ragnarok pierced the center of Neo Arcadia, and destroyed the central area without a trace. Parliament was annihilated, the dictator Vile went missing, the capital's functions collapsed entirely.
同日、ラグナロク副砲発射。	On the same day, the Ragnarok auxiliary cannon is fired.
ネオ・アルカディア住民は衛星砲台ラグナロクの存在すら知らず、圏内の居住者は、なすすべもなく施設と運命をともにした。犠牲者は二千万人以上、正確な死者数は今も把握できていない。	Neo Arcadia residents didn't even knew of the existence of the satellite cannon Ragnarok, residents within range met their fate along with facilities who couldn't do anything about it. Casualties are over 20 million, an accurate death toll is difficult to grasp even today.
私自身はジャーナリストとして、中立よりややレプリロイド寄りである。だが事実は事実として、後世に残さざるを得ない。主砲の引き金を引くにあたって、クラフトは都市の人間たちへ、一切の警告を発しなかった。	As a journalist myself, I'm slightly neutral in Repliroid approach. But as the facts are facts, they must be left for the future generations. Craft pulled the trigger of the main cannon without issuing any warning to the humans of the city.
軍用士官型レプリロイド クラフト	Military Officer Type Repliroid Craft
ネオ・アルカディア建立時に戦後処理と反乱鎮圧を目的に開発された初期生産ラインからの派生型と思われる。正規軍での戦闘記録は残っておらず、傭兵として各地の戦場や被災地を転々としていたようだ。複数の兵装端未を同時制御可能な接続ユニットを多数内蔵していたカスタムボディは衛星砲台ラグナロクを完全なる管理下に治め、外部からの緊急コードの一切を遮断していたという。	He appears to be derived from a type of production line initially developed for post-war processing and rebellion suppression during Neo Arcadia's construction. The is no battle record left of him in the regular army, it seems that he was a mercenary who moved from place to place, to battlefields and afflicted areas all over the world. It's said that his custom body, which had several connection units built in to control multiple weapon terminals simultaneously placed the satellite cannon Ragnarok under his complete control and cut off the external emergency codes.
公表された機密データの中でも希少な旧大戦映像から発見された着工時の衛星砲台ラグナロク。同クラスの攻撃衝星けでも200基以上が今も我々の頭上を漂っているという。	This hard-to-find old great war imagery was found amongst the announced confidential data: the satellite cannon Ragnarok, at the time of construction. It is said that over 200 attack satellites of the same class are still drifting over our heads.

終焉	Demise
ネオ・アルカディア跡地の夜空は、激しい火災でその底を臓腑のごときピンク色にただれさせていた。	The night skies of the remains of Neo Arcadia had fierce fires on the bottom of the remains, it inflamed in a pink color like the entrails.
百年の理想郷が、無惨なむくろをさらしていた。その前で我々人間は、それでも、ドクターバイルの毒に満ちた牢獄から解放されたと安堵していた。かつては野蛮だと思っていた、外の世界のあまりの広さに、漆黒の空の透きとおる高さに興奮していた。炎の海がバイル時代の数ヶ月を精算していると見る冷淡な目すら、なかったとは言い切れない。	It showed the miserable corpse of a hundred-year-long utopia. We humans faced it, but despite that, we relieved at being freed from the prison filled with Doctor Vile's poison.We got excited at the transparent jet-black skies, and the width of the outside world, which we'd deemed to be barbaric. We can't say for sure that there weren't indifferent eyes who looked at the sea of flames as if was paying off the months of Vile's age. .
我々は破壊と犠牲の大きさにも、明日食べるものがない事実にも頭が回らなかった。まるで地獄の宴に突き落とされたような、奇妙な高揚に支配されていたのだ。	We didn't think about the fact that we didn't have anything to eat the next day due to the magnitude of the destruction and the sacrifices. We were ruled by an odd exhaltation, as if we'd been thrusted into a feast in Hell.
だから、星空を無数の光の雨が落ちたとき、幸運をよろこんだ。銀色のほうき星が地平線へ流れゆく様を見て、レジスタンスに救助され九死に一生を得たあどけない少女が、祈るように手を組んだ。	So we were glad at our fortune when when a rain of multiple lights fell in the starry skies. We saw how a silver comet flowed towards a horizon, and an innocent girl who'd had a narrow escape from death, rescued by the Resistance, clasped her hands as if she was praying.
しかし、それも冷静な報告がトレーラーから発せられた時までだった。	However, that was until a sober report was issued from the trailer.

誰もがよろこぶべきその通達に、何百万という群集が、同時に呼吸を失ったように静まりかえった。世界が静止したこの瞬間、我々はようやくこれが未曾有の惨事だと、今の自分たちは廃墟から焼け出されたみすぼらしい避難民なのだと、気づいて震えたのだ。	Everyone should be pleased by those news, but at the same time, a crowd of millions of people, fell into silent as if they'd lost their breath. On that instant, the world stood still, and we finally realized and shuddered at this unprecedented disaster, and that we were shabby refugees who'd been burnt out of a ruin.
自由を求めて理想郷を飛び出したキャラバンの人間たちは言う。流星の空で、伝説のレプリロイド、ゼロは戦っていた。	The humans from the caravan said they escaped the utopia in search of freedom. The legendary Repliroid Zero was fighting In the shooting star of the skies.
我々は忘れてはならない。バイル事変という戦争は、我々人間のあやまちからはじまったのだ。かつて巨大コロニーの墜落で大地が荒廃したように、衛星砲台ラグナロクは回復の兆しを見せはじめた自然に、とどめを刺すはずだった。殻からはい出し夜空を見あげたとき、我々は、己の戦いを貫きとおした英雄の命をそこに見ていたのだ。	We must never forget. The war caled "Vile's Incident" started from the mistakes we humans committed. Like how the fall of a giant colony had ravaged the land, Satellite Cannon Ragnarok was supposed to deal the killing blow to a nature which had begun to show symptoms of recovery. When we looked up to the night skies creeping out from the shell, we saw the life of the hero who persisted on his battle there.
いったい我々は、レプリロイドたちにどう報いてやれるだろうか？	What exactly could we do to repay the Repliroids?
落下した欠片から回収されたオペレーションボックスに残されていた補助監視衛星による大気圏突入時の映像。 ここまで原形を留めていたラグナロクが成層圏外で爆散したのは奇跡といえよう。	Footage of the atmosphere entrance by an auxiliary observation satellite, left on the operation box of which was recovered from a fragment that had crashed. そして、二年が経ち、我々は新しい生活を築きつつある。	And, two years later, we are building a new lifestyle.
出生率の倍増したベビーブームが、理想郷を追われた人々のうれしい悲鳴だ。	Birth rate doubled in the baby boom, joyful cries of people expelled from the utopia.
武器を持って治安維持にあたったパンテオンのようなレプリロイドですら、今では復旧と子どもの世話で大わらわだ。今や、銃ではなくゆりかごやおしめを持って、我々は総力戦をしているのだ。	Even armed Repliroids like the Pantheons that were in charge of keeping public order are now having a great time taking care of restoration and child-car. Today, our all-out war is with cradle or diapers instead of guns.
この小さな子どもたちがおとなになったとき、それでも古い世代の我々はあのドーム都市跡を理想郷と呼び続けるだろう。だが、そんな老人たちを笑い飛ばして、この世界みんながそうだよと、若い世代が力強く言ってくれる日を望まずにいられない。	When these little children grow up, we of the older generations will still keep calling the dome city ruins a utopia. However, the young generations they will laugh away the old people, and say with conviction that everyone in the world is an utopia for them. I can't wait for the day in which that happens.
我々は、バイル事変によって安楽な暮らしを失い、ゼロへと引きずり戻された。 だが、勇敢に戦い抜いた者がいたから、最後の最後で、もっとも大事なものを奪われずにすんだ。	We lost our comfortable lifestyle as a result of the Vile incident and we got dragged back to zero. However, those who fought bravely non-stop until the very end, managed to survive without having their most valuable things stolen from them.
今度こそ、この教訓を生かして、我々人間がレプリロイドたちと共存を果たせるよき時代が来ると、信じずにいられないのだ。いや、そうせねば犠牲になった同胞やレプリロイドたちに申し訳が立つまい。	I can't help but believe that this time around, thanks to this education, an age will come in which we humans and Repliroids can co-exist. No, if that doesn't happen then we can't apologize to the comrades and Repliroids who were lost in the wars.
理想郷はすでになく、傷痕はあまりにも大きい。だが、夏には汗だくになり、冬にはかじかむ手をこするこの二年ですっかり外に順応した、あの日焼けの少女は、ドーム都市が理想郷だったなどおとぎ話だと思っている。より素晴らしいものを、無邪気なその目は、外の世界にとらえているのだ。	There's no more utopia and the wounds are very big. However, sweating in the summer, rubbing the numb cold hands in winter, that tanned girl has totally adapted to the outside in these 2 years, and she thinks that the tales of the dome being an utopia are but fairy tales. Her innocent eyes had caught sight of more splendid things, of the outside world.
このルポルタージュの終わりに、伝説のレプリロイドについての、シエル博士へのインタビューの一節をご紹介したい。	At the end of this reportage, I would like to introduce a passage from an interview with Dr. Ciel about the legendary Repliroid.
―― ラグナロク落下のとき、彼はそれでも戦い続けたと聞きました。一番近くにいたあなたの目から見て、彼は伝説のレプリロイドだから、それほど強くあれたのですか？ 「ゼロは目覚めたとき、記憶がなく、自分が何者であるかすら覚えていませんでした。それでも、彼はいつだって前だけを向いていました」	― I heard he still kept fighting when Ragnarok was falling. In the eyes of you, who were the closest to him, he is a legendary Repliroid, how powerful was he really? "When I woke up Zero, he had no memories, he didn't even remember who he was. Nevertheless, he always look forward at all times."
レジスタンスとともに戦い抜いた彼女は、すべてを失っても残るものがあると微笑んだ。	When asked if she, who fought through with the Resistance and had lost all, still had something left to her, she smiled as an answer.
ここもベビーブームの例外ではないエリア・ゼロの取材中、真っ黒に肌を色づかせた子どもたちが、元気に走りまわっていた。彼らがはだしで草むらに飛びこむと、驚いて薄緑色のバッタが飛んでいった。	The baby boom was no exception here. During the interview in Area Zero, dark-skinned children were energetically running around. When they jumped into the grass barefoot, light green grasshoppers flew in surprise.
すべてを失ったような荒れ地のオアシスに、それでも命が残っていた。エリア・ゼロの自然は豊かに、活力を陽光に輝かせている。愚かでも、我々は生きている。何度でも、この大地でやり直すこともできるはずだと、信じずにいられないのだ。	It like an oasis in a devastated land which had lost it all, . but despite that life remained here. Nature on Area Zero is abundant, it is shining with vitality in the sunlight. We are alive, even if foolishly. I can't help but believe that it should be possible to start over in this land as many times as needed.
そこに命がある限り、すべては再び。	As long as there is life out there, everything begins anew.
