Volt Catfish, known as Electro Namazuros (エレキテル・ナマズロス Erekiteru Namazurosu, "Elekiter Namazuros") in Japan, is a Reploid in Mega Man X3 based on an electric catfish. He is an emergency power generator who was infected by the Sigma Virus, joining the Doppler Army.
Characteristics[]
Volt Catfish has a long and bulky turqoise body that combines with his head, reminiscent of a catfish. He has a gaping mouth with prominent lips and whiskers along the edges. His tail is wide and his fingers are webbed, giving him an aquatic look. He also possesses two electric dynamos on his back.
Volt Catfish was formerly a kind and playful soul, having a bit of a goofy side. Upon going Maverick, he became a gluttonous guzzler of electricity who brazenly challenged the Maverick Hunters to dare stopping him.
History[]
Mega Man X3[]
Volt Catfish has an incredible power generator built into his body, which he once used to provide power to cities during times of crisis. He was turned Maverick by the Maverick Virus in Dopple Town, wreaking havoc at the Power Control Center and siphoning the power off to Dr. Doppler's research facility. He issues a challenge daring anyone to try to stop him; X accepts this challenge and infiltrates the plant, destroying Catfish and taking his Triad Thunder.[1]
Mega Man Xtreme 2[]
Volt Catfish returned as one of the resurrected Maverick guardians of Laguz Island, whom Gareth challenged the Hunters to defeat. He is one of the four bosses fought in Zero Mission, and is weak to Ray Claw/Rising.
Strategy[]
Volt Catfish can be an awkward opponent, as he moves only by jumping and bouncing along the floor. He has a wide variety of attacks that cover the arena in electricity. His weakness is Tornado Fang, which stuns him and can trap him into a behavior loop.

- In Mega Man Xtreme 2, Volt Catfish uses two new moves. First is a Suction Attack (吸い込み攻撃 Suikomi Kōgeki), where he fires lightning balls to attack the player and then sucks them back for contact damage. He also has 3-Way Electric Bullet (3方向電撃弾 3 Hōkō Dengeki-dan), where he fires electricity in three directions.[3]

Rockman X3 (manga)[]
In the Rockman X3 manga, Electro Namazuros wreaked havoc by taking control of a city's electricity, but was eventually defeated by X. When he reverted to his original mental state, he began to remember the times when he and X were good friends. Realizing all the trouble that he had caused, he sacrificed himself to return the city's electricity by using his own body as a replacement generator. He survived this event and was repaired. After X and Zero were captured by the Nightmare Police, Namazuros and other five reformed Irregulars gathered X's four power ups and gave them to Dr. Cain. He also makes a cameo appearance in a remembrance scene at the end of the Rockman X4 manga.
Rockman X Mega Mission 3[]
In the Carddass, Rockman X Mega Mission 3, he is revived as the Hyper Limited Electro Namazuros HL. Disguised under the alias Braun Eleci, he was one of the four members of a vigilante group named Masquerades that was recruited by the Hunters, infiltrating the Hunter Base to spy and then attack them. Return X's attack forced them to retreat, and later they combined into Mix Fort, but are defeated.
Archie Comics[]
Like most of the other Mavericks from 21XX, Volt Catfish was resurrected using the power of the Genesis Portals and Unity Engines as part of an army of Mavericks that appeared alongside Sigma-2 in Worlds Unite. After briefly attacking the Freedom Fighters' Sky Patrol, he and most of his fellow Mavericks departed to invade other worlds.

Etymology[]
- His Japanese name "Namazuros" is derived from "namazu", which is Japanese for catfish.
Trivia[]
- Volt Catfish and Volt Kraken have similarly-named weapons. Their names also both start with "Volt".
- If X has the Z-Saber, he can use it and disable one of Volt Catfish's shields during Electric Bullet Scatter, reducing the power of his dash attack.
- In Volt Catfish's intro FMV on the CD versions of Mega Man X3, a robot resembling Auto can be seen in the background watching TV while Catfish floats down the pipes. Catfish himself is seen in the TV, making it possible that Auto is watching the intro live as it is happening.
- Volt Catfish is one of the six Mavericks in the Rockman X3 manga to survive and reform. Catfish also had a tendency to make puns involving electricity, or even random objects like macadamia nuts. Unfortunately, a lot of these puns do not make sense in English since they use Japanese words.
