The Wily Castle in Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge is the game's penultimate stage. After defeating the four Robot Masters, Mega Man enters the fortress to find Dr. Wily and fights against its defenses. After defeating the Mega Man Killer Enker, Wily escapes to the Wily Station in outer space and Mega Man follows him.

Stage[]

The Wily Castle is one of the hardest stages in the game. Going into this stage, the player will have obtained Carry, a new utility that creates a platform underneath your feet. This will be extremely useful for the stage's long vertical drops, as there are usually a bed of spikes taking up a huge part of a room and Carry will be the only way to survive imminent death. This stage brings back the stationary fans and electrical beams from Elec Man's stage as primary gimmicks. It should also be noted that from here on out, all Sniper Joes (barring the first one) will start retreating backwards by jumping away as you approach them, making them trickier to defeat.

The end of the stage has rematch capsules that contain four Robot Masters from Mega Man 2. Once all of them are defeated, Enker can be challenged in a new capsule as the stage's last boss.

The placements are:

  • Top left (Quick Man)
  • Bottom left (Flash Man)
  • Top right (Bubble Man)
  • Bottom right (Heat Man)

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • 1-UP: At the very first room on a higher up ledge. The player has to use Carry to reach it, though it may be easier to clear out the Suzies patrolling that area.
  • 1-UP: After the second Mole room, this pickup rests on a far left platform. To get it, the player needs to use Carry twice in the air in order to reach that platform (it is possible to only use Carry once, but the timing is very precise).

Trivia[]

  • The first Special Stage in Mega Man 10 is based on this stage and Wily Station.
  • If the player obtains weapons from the Mega Man 2 Robot Masters and ends up getting a Game Over before defeating Enker, the stage will restart from the beginning, and the player loses any weapons obtained from those Mega Man 2 bosses.
    • This makes Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge the only classic Mega Man series game (and quite possibly the only game in the entire franchise) in which it is possible to lose Special Weapons that have been obtained.
