Wily Press (ワイリープレス Wairī Puresu) is the machine Dr. Wily uses in the third Wily Stage of Mega Man 5, being the boss of that stage.

Attack Pattern[]

The arena is mostly flat but has a small ditch in the middle with spikes, but is easily jumped over. The Wily Press spends most of the fight at the very top of the screen, flying left and right in an erratic fashion. Eventually, the Wily Press stops moving, telegraphed by the center pod opening to reveal Dr. Wily inside. After a second of staying in place, the Wily Press slams down. The floor will also rise simultaneously with Wily's drop, both of these entities meeting at the middle for half of a second before moving away. This gives Mega Man just enough time to reposition himself once he sees where Dr. Wily has stopped moving. Dr. Wily is the boss's weak point, and can only be hurt once the Wily Press is all the way down.

Once the Wily Press is destroyed, Dr. Wily escapes inside a little pod. Mega Man gives chase and heads to Wily Stage 4, the final stage of the game.

Weakness[]

Wily Press is weak to Star Crash, and is destroyed in 7 hits from it. However, the big hitbox of Star Crash requires the weapon to be timed just precisely in order to successfully hurt the Wily Press, otherwise it will ding off the lower body. If the player has used this weapon to defeat Gravity Man in the prior rematches, Mega Man will either not have enough ammo or have to use the rest of their ammo to defeat the Wily Press with Star Crash (though using an M-Tank can restore this ammo back). As with all bosses, Wily Press takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot.
