Wood Man Stage (ウッドマンステージ) is a stage in Mega Man 2 and Mega Man II that has Wood Man as the boss.
Appearances[]
Mega Man 2[]
Wood Man's stage starts in a forest area before going underground and above the canopies. Whereas all other stages have at least one dedicated gimmick to them, this stage has no gimmick other than a few pits. However, it is a fully dedicated combat stage with a lot of enemies native to this stage and even introduces the series' very first mid-boss: the Frienders, who also are the only mid-bosses in Mega Man 2.

Mega Man II[]

Wood Man's stage in Mega Man II.
Wood Man's Stage in the GB demake still takes place in a preserved forest base, though it is the most different out of the first 4 stages. While retaining a lot of enemies from the NES game, the 'above-canopy' room has been replaced by a half-flooded room, which has some obstacles from Mega Man 3. If the player has Rush Marine, the player can traverse through the water with no opposition and skip that entire room. This water room also has 6 hidden Needle Presses, which poke in and out of the ceilings in the upper path, so the player must be cautious.

Trivia[]
- At one point during the development of Mega Man 2, Atomic Fire was planned to be able to set the trees in Wood Man's stage ablaze, causing the Batton enemies to fly away. This feature was removed from the final game.[1] Wood Man's stage has unused palettes that appear to be leftovers from this idea.[2]
- The design of burning trees was later adopted in many Mega Man games, such as Mega Man 7, X4, Zero 2 and Zero 3.
