Xebec, Inc. (株式会社ジーベック Kabushiki Gaisha Jībekku, stylized as XEBEC) was a subsidiary of IG Port (the holding company of anime studio Production I.G) that specialises in the production of television anime. Founded on May 1, 1995, the studio worked on many popular series such as Love Hina, Shaman King, To Love-Ru, Martian Successor Nadesico, and Keijo!!!!!!!!. Xebec worked in several Mega Man animations.
Xebec ceased to exist as a business entity on May 31, 2019. Copyright of Xebec's past works reverted to the Production I.G group.[1]
History[]
The division of IG Port was founded sometime on 1995 in Tokyo, Japan.
During the production for the video game Mega Man 8, the studios had worked on the animations for full-motion video cutscenes of the game. Xebec also provided animated cutscenes for the game Mega Man X4 during its production.
In 2002, MegaMan NT Warrior, an anime based on the Mega Man Battle Network series, was produced. It was the first Mega Man-based TV series to be produced by the studios.
In March 2005, Xebec produced and release the film titled Rockman EXE: Hikari to Yami no Program. It was the only Rockman-related film to be produced by the studios.
In 2006, the studios produced Mega Man Star Force, an anime based on the video game series of the same name, and also produced a Japan-exclusive season titled Shooting Star Rockman Tribe in 2007, which it was the final production based on the Rockman franchise to be produced by the studios prior to its closure in later years of the next decade.
In May 31, 2019, the studios ceased to exist and therefore their copyrighted works were reverted to the Production I.G. group.
