This article is about the anime version of Zero.EXE. For other versions of Zero, see Zero (disambiguation). For other variations of the Zero Virus, see Zero Virus (disambiguation). For the episode with the same title, see Zero Virus (episode).

The Zero Virus (ゼロウィルス Zero Uirusu) is a character and former antagonist in Rockman.EXE Beast+. Though physically appearing to be a NetNavi, Zero is actually a virus and carries the eponymous Zero Virus and worked with the Professor to spread it to other viruses and beastize them. He serves as an antagonist in the series before turning on his creator and aiding in defeating Zero One.

Overview[]

Unlike his video game counterpart, the Zero Virus was not created by Dr. Wily but by the Professor himself with a refined version of the Beast Factor, and never has the chance to become a fully fledged NetNavi or be defeated by Blues. Instead, the Zero Virus abandons the Professor shortly after his debut and looks for a reason to exist, learning what it means to feel after GutsMan holds his hand.

A mysterious and powerful being of few words, Zero is strong enough to easily best a cross fused Enzan Ijuuin in combat, something very few have done. Despite his origin, Zero actually has free will of his own, and refuses to be used as a tool by the Professor while wishing he were an actual Navi. He forms a friendship with GutsMan and shortly after Rockman.

Later, Zero appears in NetCity with several beastized viruses, causing the virtual city to evacuate. GutsMan bumps into Zero while evacuating and takes his hand so that the two could flee, but Zero disappears. He observes GutsMan and his friends celebrating his and Dekao’s birthday, where GutsMan asks for a thing that “shines white and is capsule-shaped”. Zero contemplates the feelings he felt when he touched GutsMan’s hand and seeks out this item to give to him, concluding it to the energy source of NetCity. He attempts to retrieve it but is stopped by Rockman, and the two fight before Zero is confronted by GutsMan. Zero freezes when GutsMan declares Rockman is his friend, allowing Rockman to use a Dream Sword Program Advance and blow Zero back. Rockman questions why Zero stopped fighting when he saw GutsMan, and Zero explains that he had searched the world to learn what Navis had that viruses didn’t: bonds, friends, and a heart. He states that through GutsMan he has felt what it means to have a heart, and now has nothing to leave behind and asks Rockman to finish him off, but instead Rockman states that while Zero must atone for his actions, Zero can their friends, to his surprise.
